Our Aims

Within the UK, there is very little coordination between Radio Amateur groups that are experimenting with High Speed Data Communications systems.

Mostly, the groups are associated with RAYNET in providing some form of data communication for the user services. These are generally on an ad-hoc basis and there is nothing set up permanently utilising the Amateur Radio Licence.

Our neighbours in mainland Europe, over a number of years, have established a High Speed Data Network using commerciailly available equipment operating in the 5GHZ band. This uses traditional IP protocols creating an amateur radio internet which is separate from the traditional internet. It is a system which is used only by amateur radio operators.

Now is the time to establish a similar facility but here in the UK.
